Curious Screen Culture

Editorial policy

Curious Screen Culture aims to describe screen choices accurately, explain what can reasonably be concluded from them and distinguish observation from interpretation. Readers should be able to see how our wording matches the evidence available to us.

Accuracy and sources

We check factual claims against suitable, identifiable sources and take care with names, dates, terminology and quoted material. Interpretations of an image, performance or interface are presented as interpretations, not as facts about a creator's private intentions. Where a point is uncertain or disputed, we say so rather than smoothing over the doubt.

Independence and labelling

Editorial decisions are separate from commercial proposals. Any sponsored or partner material we accept is clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work. A partnership does not buy a favourable opinion, and we do not imply endorsement where there is none.

Corrections

If a published piece contains an error, we review the report, verify the relevant detail and correct the article when warranted. Significant corrections are identified in the article with a concise explanation of what changed. Readers can send corrections through the Contact page.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be AI-generated. When an illustration is AI-generated, it is labelled accordingly; illustrative images are not presented as documentary evidence of a real screen, scene or event.
